“Mr X” Another good book to read in the Fantasy/Horror/Supernatural genre. I read it recently and found it very interesting in its concepts, it reminded me, in some parts, of TC Boyle’s “World’s end”. (Although, TC Boyle is not a fantasy writer as such.)
Good story.

“Vernon God Little”………

I book that I have recently read that I found very entertaining, funny in places and reminds me of my years of teenage angst. It also gives an insight into the US Justice system and resulting media circus that ensues, (colouring the evidence by sentiment and knee-jerk reactions.) To quote Vernon ‘fucken good!’

Vernon God Little is the Booker Prize winning debut novel of Australian-born author DBC Pierre, the pseudonym used by Peter Finlay.
The title character is a fifteen-year-old boy who lives in a small town in the U.S. state of Texas. When his friend Jesus Navarro commits suicide after killing sixteen bullying schoolmates, suspicion falls on Vernon, who becomes something of a scapegoat in his small hometown of Martirio. Fearing the death penalty, he goes on the run to Mexico.

“The Master and Margarita”

The last book notice posted for now……..whew!!

All that can be said about this novel has been said, but hey!! what a good book!!

The Master and Margarita (Russian: Ма́стер и Маргари́та) is a novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, woven around the premise of a visit by the Devil to the fervently atheistic Soviet Union. Many critics consider the book to be one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, as well as one of the foremost Soviet satires, directed against a suffocatingly bureaucratic social order.

“lron John”

A strange book I came across and read recently.

Short synopsis below:

lron John: A Book About Men“, is a book by American Poet Robert Bly published in 1990.

‘It analyzes Iron John, a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, in Joseph Campbell fashion to find lessons especially meaningful to men. Bly believes that this fairy tale contains lessons from the past of great importance to modern men.
It builds upon material in “What Do Men Really Want?: A New Age Interview With Robert Bly” by Keith Thompson, New Age Journal, May 1982 and first appeared as a series of pamphlets. Comparable to Clarissa Pinkola Estés’s book Women Who Run With the Wolves.’

Read it and see if it changes you, as a man, for the better?
